Galilean School of Higher Education, University of Padova, Italy is offering scholarships to pursue master’s degree programme. Scholarships are available to foreign students.
The University of Padua is a premier Italian university located in the city of Padua, Italy. The University of Padua was founded in 1222 as a school of law and was one of the most prominent universities in early modern Europe.

Scholarship Description:

  • Application Deadline: April 4, 2018
  • Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue masters degree programme.
  • Study Subject: At the Galilean School of Higher Education, students are recruited in the areas of Humanities (Classe di Scienze Morali), Natural Sciences (Classe di Scienze Naturali) and Social Sciences (Classe di Scienze Sociali).
  • Scholarship Award: The School will reimburse one round trip ticket from/to the country of origin (economy class) up to 1.500,00 Euros for each Academic Year, and cover the cost of books and miscellaneous documented expenses of educational nature, authorized and within reasonable limits. The School will provide free room and board in the University student houses and canteens. The School reserves the right to assign a grant up to 5.000,00 Euros to the admitted students, as a contribution towards personal living expenses; this grant is subjected to the economic availability of the School and to the evaluation by a specific committee; no other scholarships will be compatible with this grant.
  • Number of Scholarships: Up to four scholarships are available.
  • Nationality: Non-Italian citizens
  • Scholarship can be taken in Italy

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

  • Eligible Countries: This call is reserved to non-Italian citizens, residing outside Italy.
  • Entrance Requirements: Applicants:
    • Must be eligible for enrolling in the 1st year of a Second Cycle Degree (Laurea Magistrale) of the University of Padova (check carefully this link for details on the pre-requisites and procedures). Please bear in mind that the pre-enrolment to the chosen Second Cycle Degree Course and the application to the Galilean School are two separate processes, and the successful completion of both is required to have your application examined. Please refer to the admission notice of your chosen Second Cycle Degree for the application procedure and pay particular attention to the deadlines, as they are February 28th for courses taught in English. Applicants who have not completed their Second Cycle Degree Course application alongside with their Galilean School application by the indicated deadlines will be automatically excluded from the selection;
    • Must hold a Bachelor degree (or be expected to obtain one before July 31st 2018) and not be older than 26 at the time of application;
    • Must complete the online application between February 7th 2018, 1.00 pm (GMT+1) and April 4th 2018, 1.00 pm (GMT+2)
  • English Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of the Italian language is not required, but it will be taken into consideration for the evaluation.

Application Procedure:

How to Apply: The on-line procedure requires the upload of the following documents:
  • A copy of the passport (or identity card only for EU nationals);
  • A certified copy (on headed paper, signed and stamped by the awarding Institution) of the academic transcript of records in English with the indication of ECTS credits or the indication of the grading scale used by the Institution, if ECTS grading is not available. The transcript may be replaced by the Diploma Supplement, if available;
  • A copy of the First Level University Diploma (Bachelor Degree). If a Bachelor Degree hasn’t been obtained yet before the application deadline, the applicant must attach an official letter of the Home Institution, stating that the candidate is registered as a Bachelor student and that he will earn his/her Bachelor degree before July 31, 2018 (the expected date of graduation would be appreciated);
  • Curriculum Vitae in English (a template can be downloaded here). Please, remember to indicate a valid Skype address in the CV; applications not containing a Skype address will be rejected;
  • A cover letter, summarizing the applicants’ main interests and experiences in the specific field of study, together with the main reasons of their application to join the Galilean School.
After the deadline of April 4th 2018, 1.00 pm (GMT+2), the link to the application form will be disabled. Incomplete submissions will be rejected automatically. Services might be subject to temporary suspensions for technical updates. ATTN.: in addition to the on-line application, two reference letters are needed from experienced scientists/ professors who know the applicant. The letters must be written on headed paper of the referee’s Institution; they must be signed and sent personally by the referee, as a pdf file, to the Galilean School (galilean.school@unipd.it), specifying “Reference Letter (Name, Surname and date of birth of the applicant)” in the e-mail subject. A few general suggestions for filling the letter can be downloaded here. The deadline for sending the reference letters is the same as that of the online application (April 4th 2018); applicants who have failed at having their reference letters sent by the indicated deadline will be automatically excluded from the selection. Reference letters sent outside of the above guidelines (e.g. sent by the applicant instead of the referee) will not be considered. Disabled students or students suffering from dyslexia can refer to the Disability and Dyslexia Office to point out particular needs and to request information on the support services available to attend the courses, as well as financial aid. The School reserves the right to interview the students (e.g. remote interview via Skype) as part of the selection process. Applicants will be notified about the interview by e-mail. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of the Italian language is not required, but it will be taken into consideration for the evaluation. A selection committee will evaluate the applications and draw up a ranked preliminary list of qualified candidates.
