CBIS Fully-Funded International PhD Studentships at Imperial College London in UK, 2018

The Imperial College London is offering up to 8 x 3.5-year, fully-funded PhD Studentships for outstanding students and researchers from around the world. The PhD studentships will be across some of the Centre’s Clinical Priorities, which reflect the most significant conditions arising from blast injury.

Scholarship Description:

• Application Deadline: April 4, 2018
• Course Level: Studentships are available for pursuing PhD programme.
• Study Subject: The PhD studentships will be across some of the Centre’s Clinical Priorities, which reflect the most significant conditions arising from blast injury. These include: Musculoskeletal and extremity injury (neck, spine, pelvis, amputations, foot, ankle, skin, muscle, nerves),  Heterotopic ossification, Hearing loss, Head and brain injury, Causes of death / next level of survivors / clinical scoring and civilian correlates and  Torso injury.
• Scholarship Award: Studentships cover three years of Home-EU tuition fees and provide a 3.5-year, tax-free stipend at the standard Research Council United Kingdom rate (£16,777 per annum for 2018-19). In addition, a generous allowance is provided for research consumables and conference attendance.
• Number of Scholarships: Up to eight CBIS studentship positions
• Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

• Eligible Countries: Home and EU candidates can apply for these scholarships.
• Entrance Requirements: Home and EU candidates who meet the College’s PhD programme entry requirements are eligible to apply. Entry onto the PhD programme requires an undergraduate degree at 2:1 level or higher and, normally, a master’s degree with merit or higher (or non-UK equivalents) in engineering, any of the physical sciences, mathematics, biological sciences, physiology or medicine.
• English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language then you will need to show that your English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.

To apply to the PhD programme at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies, please visit the College’s admissions webpages to view the instructions and complete the Bioengineering Research – Academic Year 2018/19 application form by 04 April 2018.

Within your application you will be asked to upload a personal statement/research plan. As part of this, please provide a ranked order of your top three preferences for research areas from the clinical priorities listed above and a research statement of up to 2 pages that covers the following:

• A description of the research areas and techniques that you are most interested in, naming any potential CBIS supervisors whom you would like to work with;
• Any initial ideas you have for pursuing research in the highlighted areas;
• A description of how your experience to date would make you an ideal candidate to undertake a PhD within CBIS in one or more of the research areas described.
