To be eligible to receive a Scholarship, applicants must:
a. be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencing the Scholarship
b. be a citizen of a participating country (as listed on the Australia Awards website) and be residing in and applying for the scholarship from their country of citizenship
c. not be married, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who holds, or is eligible to hold, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency, at any time during the application, selection or mobilisation phases (note: residents of Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau with New Zealand citizenship are eligible but must apply for a Student visa (subclass 500) and not be current serving military personnel
d. not be a citizen of Australia, hold permanent residency in Australia or be applying for a visa to live in Australia permanently
e. not be applying for another long‐term Australia Award unless they have resided outside of Australia for twice the length of the total time that they were in Australia
f. have satisfied any specific criteria established by the Program Area or the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship (e.g. having worked a certain number of years in an appropriate sector)
g. be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the institution at which the award is to be undertaken
h. be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to hold a Student Visa.

2018 ARPPIS-DAAD Doctoral Scholarships for Study at ICIPE, Kenya

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), Kenya, in partnership with  the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) In-Country/In-Region Scholarships Programme and African university partners, are offering doctoral research scholarships in the African Regional Postgraduate Programme in Insect Sciences (ARPPIS). There are total twelve ARPPIS-DAAD PhD scholarships available to nationals of sub-Saharan countries.
The primary objective of ARPPIS is to prepare young researchers from Africa to compete in an internationally competitive research environment within national, regional and international research programmes.
Icipe is an international scientific research institute, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya that works towards improving lives and livelihoods of people in Africa. DAAD is the German national agency for the support of international academic cooperation, and offers programmes and funding for students, faculty, researchers and others in higher education.

    • The applicant must be a citizen of a country in sub-Saharan Africa. However, some country restrictions apply.
    • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum pass of second-class, upper division.
    • A Master’s degree taken with both coursework and research in the field of natural sciences or other field relevant to the PhD project.
    • The Master’s degree must have been completed less than six years ago at the time of application.
    • Qualified female candidates and candidates from less privileged regions or groups as well as candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
    • Qualified nationals of French- and Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa are also encouraged to apply.
    • Preference will be given to applicants with a maximum age of 36 years (men) or 40 years (women) by 31st December 2018.

The Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies at the University of Primorska (UP FAMNIT) is offering one fully-funded PhD scholarship at HICUP LAB.
The University of Primorska is the third university in Slovenia. It is located in Koper, Izola, and Portorož and is named for the Slovenian Littoral region, where it is located.

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

Eligible Countries: EU as well as International students can apply.
Entrance Requirements: Candidates should demonstrate outstanding academic potential with preferably a Master’s degree with distinction and need a strong first degree in Computer Science or related subject. Excellent technical ability, programming skills and proficient active and passive English language skills are essential. We seek a candidate with good prototyping skills and an inventive mind for problem-solving. Specifically, we are seeking candidates with a very good knowledge in at least one of the areas of software engineering, 3D graphics, information visualisation, interaction design, computer vision, systems modelling, artificial intelligence, software development or similar. Applied mathematics or ability to learn such is also desirable.

  • Portfolio of previous research and/or development projects and/or DIY prototyping (e.g. mobile apps, web apps, DIY electronics, graphical designs, interface designs, system mockups, DIY prototypes …)
  • A certified copy of any previously completed higher-level education degrees: e.g. bachelor degree, master degree, etc.
  • Course transcripts, GPA (grade point average) certificate of exams and tutorials, including explanations of the mark schemes used and, where possible, an indication of their class ranking/position in the class.
  • Two reference letters (your two referees must be able to comment on your suitability for a research degree level of study, one of them must have been your academic tutor) originally sealed by referees.
  • If you will need a visa to study in Slovenia or UK, a copy of the page of your passport that gives your full name, passport number, etc.

For entry in academic year 2018/19, there are 30 University of Brighton international scholarships available to new, full-time international postgraduate taught-degree students.
The aim of the University of Brighton postgraduate scholarship is to enable and encourage academically able students from any nationality.
The University of Brighton is a university of 20,685 students and 2,700 staff based on five campuses in Brighton, Eastbourne, and Hastings on the south coast of England.
Most postgraduate courses require an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no element less than 5.5.

    • Applicants must have applied for the course of your choice at the University of Brighton, and have been offered a place on that course for 2018 entry.
    • Students studying graduate diplomas, pre-masters programmes, or equivalent, at University of Brighton partner colleges or those on PG Cert and PG Dip courses (excluding OSPAP, Law CPE PGDip and Accounting PGDip) are not eligible for these scholarships.
    • These scholarships are not open to students who are fully sponsored.
    • Existing international students are also not eligible unless starting a new postgraduate programme.
  • English Language Requirements: Most postgraduate courses require an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no element less than 5.5, but a number of courses do have higher IELTS requirements than this.
